‘A Repurposed Life‘ book promotion video: An example of a brilliant and beautifully simple visual treat. The CEO and founder of OzHarvest, Ronni Kahn promotes her memoir ‘A Repurposed Life’, which reflects on her life and how she came to create OzHarvest. This video shows us all how to create something stunning to promote our books.
‘Entrepreneurial You’ Book Trailer: This is a great example of an animated book trailer that effectively summarises and promotes a book. ‘Entrepreneurial You’ tells us how to create multiple income streams, and is written by Dorie Clark, a branding expert and marketing strategy consultant. (You could find someone on Fiverr to assist you with animated videos like this.)
‘Finish Your Book’ audio meditation & visualisation: This is a visualisation practice with Heather Demetrios to help you embody the feeling of finishing your book. When you begin to struggle or doubt yourself down the road, you’ll be able to call this feeling up, as well as the intentions you set in this meditation.
‘Inside the Mind of a Master Procrastinator‘ TED Talk: Tim Urban knows that procrastination doesn’t make sense, but he’s never been able to shake his habit of waiting until the last minute to get things done. In this hilarious and insightful talk, you will see how and why procrastination can de-rail your best writing intentions, and what to do about it.
‘7 Ways to Identify Your Calling’ video from Tara Mohr: Her final three points are very relevant here! If you are being called to write, get ready! You do not need to know how before you begin. You will find your way.
‘Brene Brown on the Power of Being Vulnerable’ – a video with Jonathan Fields & Brene Brown: The closer you come to launching your book, the more vulnerable you will feel. It is okay.
‘Obvious to you. Amazing to others’ – a short animated film by Derek Sivers: We all take our own most talented self for granted. This thought will show up as “Me? Write a book? What have I got to say?”
‘Quieting the Lizard Brain‘ video: Seth Godin speaks about doubt, procrastination, thrashing ideas and the need to ship your product!
‘Your Elusive Creative Genius’ TED Talk: Elizabeth Gilbert, author, speaks about taking the pressure off. Have a genius, rather than be a genius.
‘Steal Like an Artist’ – a TEDx Talk with Austin Kleon: This will reassure you that you do not need to invent new words to write. You just need to relax and add you to your work.
‘Thinking into Results‘ video with Karen Brook: Writing and publishing your book will challenge many of your preconceptions and bring you face to face with the fear barrier. This clip from one of Karen’s seminars teaches you more about your mind as an image, and how your thoughts are processed and expressed. This shows you where to focus so you achieve the results you want in any area of your life. Make decisions as the person you want to be.
