Any good business retreat offers uninterrupted time and concentrated learning, feedback, and focus so you can percolate ideas, make important decisions, and take big steps.

It is an investment in your long-term business and personal success. So too is a retreat focussing on giving your book the best start possible.

If you want others to take your forthcoming book and your business seriously, you must take it seriously too—so, prioritise the planning stage to ensure you get it right before you write.

That is why I have committed to running a two-day planning and writing retreat for a small group of women in late August, just north of Brisbane, Australia.

A wise business investment

  • Taking care of your business requires you to take care of yourself.
  • Set aside this time with no distractions because you and your future deserve it.
  • Distance from your everyday activities gives you a new perspective on your business and where you want to go.
  • Choose to give your book the planning and incubation time it needs so you then write the book that shows you to be the professional you want to be seen as.
  • Enjoy delegating responsibilities at home and you will discover you can step away from your business more often.

A place of learning

  • A new environment, new surroundings, new people and new conversations can get the creative juices flowing and illuminate new ideas and new paths.
  • Work with a mentor at the retreat and make more progress than you would working alone.
  • Gain confidence and motivation from your mentor and from the energy of the group to really do your book proud. Isolation can be a dream killer.
  • A book planning retreat is like work experience, giving you a taste of what the project will entail, because the business of writing takes practice and discipline.
  • Tap into the power of supportive group-think, which can also include challenging questions that help you sharpen your thoughts and messages.
  • Find out more about your publishing options and build a vision of what is to come, making your book feel real.

After the retreat

You will return home with the framework of your book so you can write on with confidence.

You will have clarity on your book’s function in your business, your core message, your readers and their needs, and what shape your book will take.

Your retreat buddies are likely to form a warm, ongoing support team cheering each other on.

As your retreat mentor and book coach, I will host a group call after the retreat to help you stay focussed on your book. I will continue to be available for individual support as well. And because you have formed a good relationship with me, I will open doors for you if I can.
